100% Pasture-Based Dairy ​ Our pasture-based dairy department standards are industry change-makers: to our knowledge, none of our national competitors sell only 100% pasture-based dairy products. ​EARLY ADOPTER: Natural Grocers ® moved to an all pasture-based dairy selection for fresh and frozen dairy products in 2014. We were an early adopter of this approach in the grocery retail space and continue to set a high standard for the industry. CO 2 SEQUESTRATION: Research has shown that when dairy animals are maintained on managed pasture, they help regenerate our grasslands, sequester CO2, reduce the carbon footprint of milk production, and support economic vitality into the future. CERTIFIED ORGANIC PRIORITIZED: We have offered and prioritized certified organic dairy products since 2000 when the USDA codified the National Organic Standards. Our selection includes a growing number of dairy products that are both

Our high standards for humanely raised and sustainably sourced meats and seafood are anchored in taking responsibility for the entire lifecycle of animals raised for human consumption and its impact on animal welfare, human health, and the planet. For these reasons, our basic standard, Bronze, usually matches the highest standard found at many of our competitors’ grocery stores and farmer’s markets. We rely on the latest research and the diligence of our in-house Quality Standards Team to ensure our Meat and Seafood Standards are consistent with our values. We do not carry products that are known to contain artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, or sweeteners, partially hydrogenated or hydrogenated oils, or have been irradiated. NATURAL GROCERS BRAND PRODUCTS: Natural Grocers pre-bagged bulk products have been part of our offering since the 1960s. The Natural Grocers Brand product line was launched in 2018 and now has approximately 800 premium quality private-label products. Our private brand allows us to offer premium-quality, natural and organic groceries at affordable prices.
