But what sticks in our minds is how a single droplet of water—something so seemingly insignificant we don’t even think about it— travels miles and miles and miles. It makes us contemplate our everyday grocery choices. Because what we pack in our kids’ lunchboxes, fill our menus with, and rely on for daily hygiene has upstream and downstream impacts. Yet, in a world so full of noise, with issues looming large and seemingly beyond our control, it’s hard to know how to say “yes, we can do better!” But we must. We’re not advocating for perfection or unfounded idealism, but how many raindrops are contaminated by an excessive burden of toxic pesticides, fertilizers, and other chemicals from industrialized agriculture and manufacturing?
